After two days of intense competition, the first stage of the Chilean Flow Tour 2011 ended amazingly. Battling head to head until the finals when our top two male riders, Patricio Polanco and Juan Pablo Diban, and our top two female riders, Isidora Ureta and Nicole Buraschi, showed us why we love this sport. In the Pro Strapped final, Juan Pablo Diban, after watching an almost perfect ride from Patricio Polanco, tried a double back flip but unfortunately was unable to complete the second rotation and landed on his face, breaking his nose! Juan's a trooper and got back on the Barrel to ride his third wave with a broken nose (and a splitting headache), but only placed second.
The girls also gave it their all for the chance to take the title. In the final round, they were pulling back flips - a trick that we´ve never seen before in ladies competition here in Chile.
In the end, Patricio Polanco proved he is now the best in flowboarder in Chile and Isidora is on her way to be the next queen of the Flow Tour this year! Not only do they have this stage of the Flow Tour to their names, they also win an all expenses paid trip to San Diego, CA to compete in the Alt Games. This event focuses on college action sports including snowboarding, skiing, wakkeboarding and flowboarding. Read more about the Alt Games on Wave House San Diego
We asked Patricio and Isidora how they felt about winning, not only this stage of the Flow Tour, but a trip to San Diego, as well.
Patricio responded: "I'm very excited because again I’m going to compare my skills with the best. Now I feel an inner peace that makes me feel confident because this will not be my first international competition. I'm sure that I can stand up high in the podium this time!"
Isidora said: "For me, competing against the best of the world, makes me feel very proud. I want to meet new people to share my experiences with, watch new tricks and maneuvers so I can learn them and bring back the best of them to Chile. Also I want to give my best so Chile can be at the podium!"
The Global Wave House team would like to congratulate Patricio and Isidora on their win in Chile and are looking forward to seeing them join the many talented collegiate flowboarders as they compete in the best ever Alt Games college flowboarding competition at Wave House San Diego on May 13th and 14th. We hope you can be there to cheer on these riders and witness what promises to be the best flowboarding in the world... so far!
